GBWC 2016 - Singapore

This year, Singapore GBWC 2016 is hosted at Ngee Ann City. The competition was announce right at the beginning of the year stating it will be in June but unlike past event, the turn out seem to be rather disappointing.

From the top, you will be able to view the overall set up of the event. Coming in from the front, you will be greet by a huge display of Garden by the bay with 2 PG kit and a mega size.
Follow by the gallery of entries for GBWC and a display of grand daddy RX 78-2 together with some blown up hobby tools. The rest are products that are on the shelf ready for purchase and display of current and upcoming kits.

SG50 Mecha Build - Remembering our past, building our future

Earlier this year, Toymaker suggest the group of us to build something for commemorating our country Singapore. It our country golden jubilee and we wanted to show respect to our late Mr Lee Kuan Yew as well.

This build goes out to our pioneer generation for all the tough time that they have been through to make Singapore what she is right now. I want the kit to be modernize, keeping up to date while remembering our past.

It's only natural to use the RX-78 Gundam as the main kit to represent the pioneer generation as it is the first mobile suit in the Gundam franchise.

Looking forward, our country is still a young nation on the ascendant and freedom could be lost if we do not cherish or protect it. The crescent painted on the shield symbolize how important is it to defend what our pioneer generation have build for the nation.

The multiple shade of red and white to represent a modernize society, pervading it purity and virtue to all citizen.

Babartos Gundam - HAG Group Build

Glad to take part in this group build organize by HAG once again and honestly there were moments where I was thinking of completing it due to work commitment.
It been 6 months working in a new environment and the amount of work load is quite taxing, there wasn't much of a personal time left but at least there is enough time to sleep. Haha...

I feel relieve to be able to complete this kit otherwise it will definitely be back in the box.
There were some learning points that I pick up from this build, for example securing the kit in mid air with rods, paint chip with masking sol, using powder for addition details on the base and some other minor points. Since it was a really rush job, I wasn't able to fix those seam line which is kinda disappointing for me.

This will probably be the last kit that I complete in 2015 and I look forward to 2016 where I will wanna explore into other kit and design.

GBWC 2015: The Beast of Possibility

This build is by far one of my favorite, having spend so much time and effort to work on it. I am glad I manage to complete and learn so many new things for GBWC 2015. Unfortunately it not up to my expectations as there are still mistakes that I could have avoided. Looking forward, I can only continue to learn from my mistake and do better than this.

Check out the creation process here.

GBWC 2015: The Beast of Possibility - WIP-06

Presenting my entry in a different approach compare to what I have done previously.
I design the base that is related to Unicorn Gundam itself.
The base is in such a way that the top piece can be remove for working , and some inner support to handle the weight.
Psycho frame idea in mind, lights are able to shine thru the clear green acrylic. I didn't place any LED inside, cause I assume the exhibition case will be similar to last year GBWC where by the lights are shine from the bottom. I have no idea how it will looks yet, but I am looking forward to see it first hand on the actual day itself.
I seriously hope we are using the same exhibition shelf as last year. LOL :P

GBWC 2015: The Beast of Possibility - WIP-05

Focusing on the upper body and silhouette, I keep jumping back and forth until I feel comfortable with the design. I try as much as possible to avoid common idea of full armour that can be found from the internet but it easier said than done.

Test fitted without the armour and a change of shoulder detail. Top is before, bottom is after.

With armour on and new details added.

GBWC 2015: The Beast of Possibility - WIP-04

The detailing start pretty early since I am a slow modeller and there are alot of things to do.

Transfer the details from the MG over to HG and it was pretty challenging due to the size of the parts.
